It's been cold these days. The thermometer indicated a solid -34 when I went out for a photography trip this morning. A typical busy place, Vermilion Lake is quiet today. The cold weather has deterred most of the photographers, I think.
The whole lake was actually covered by ice and snow, leaving only a few small openings. With a big temperature difference between the water and the air, steams came up of the openings like the hot springs of Yellowstone. I found this opening surrounded by grass and bushes. The frost made it rather like a winter wonderland.
